Bluefin Tuna!!!

Captain Hogg's Charter Fishing

We fish half and full day charters all year long. Charter fishing during the summer months in the lower Chesapeake Bay boats many citation size cobia, red drum and black drum. For saltwater anglers interested in catching fish using lighter tackle, we also offer bottom fishing charters for flounder, spot, croaker, bluefish, stripers, and trout, as well as wreck fishing charters for spadefish, and sheepshead. During the winter, we offer rock fishing charters for the best striped bass fishing in the Chesapeake Bay! The boat charters out of Hampton, Va., just an hour southeast of Richmond, and minutes away from Williamsburg, Norfolk and Virginia Beach. Come experience Chesapeake Bay fishing at its very best!

The Charter Boat:

Fishing the Chesapeake Bay aboard Captain Hogg's Virginia charter boat the "Smokin' Gun II" is comfortable and safe. This boat is a 2008 custom-built 40' Evans that is Coast Guard certified for charters up to 32 passengers. The boat is equipped with the latest electronics and fishing equipment. Powered by a 670 H.P. Cummins Diesel, this charter boat cruises the Chesapeake Bay at 26 knots allowing us to get to the fish fast so that charters spend more time catching fish than cruising.

The Captain:

Using his knowledge of the Chesapeake Bay fishing and the best fishing tactics, Capt. Chandler Hogg will make your experience aboard the charter boat, the "Smokin' Gun," fun and memorable. The lower Chesapeake Bay in Virginia offers a unique variety of fish within a short boat ride from the dock. Whether it be light or heavy fishing tackle that you desire, Captain Hogg will be more than happy to facilitate your needs.

Directions to the Charter Boat:

The boat is docked in Hampton, Virginia, only minutes away from the prime fishing waters of the Chesapeake Bay.

From Richmond (I-64 E): Take Exit 267, turn RIGHT onto SETTLERS LANDING ROAD, Go three stoplights to KING STREET. Turn LEFT onto KING STREET and follow for two blocks until the road ends at the dock.

From Norfolk / Virginia Beach (I-64 W): Take Exit 267, turn LEFT onto SETTLERS LANDING ROAD, Go four stoplights to KING STREET. Turn LEFT onto KING STREET and follow for two blocks until the road ends at the dock.

Bass Bay Chesapeake Striped

Striped-Bass: (Rockfish, Striper) A great fight and one of the best tasting fish in the Chesapeake Bay, Rockfish are found in the lower bay all year long. Cobia: Cobia are well known for their great fight and are also great to eat. Cobia will arive in the Lower Chesapeake Bay in mid-May and will stay in the Chesapeake Bay untll late September. Bay Bridge Chesapeake Drum Red Tunnel.

Red Drum: (Channel Bass) Red Drum is one of the most noble fish in the Chesapeake Bay. Available in the Lower Chesapeake Bay from May to September, Red Drum put up a great fight. Black Drum: Black Drum are one of the largest fish in the Chesapeake Bay. Black Drum can tip the scales at well over 100 pounds. Bay Chesapeake Fish Flounder

Flounder: Flounder are another great tasting fish found in the lower Bay. From early May to late October, fish ranging from 1 to 15 pounds are in season. Bay Bluefish Chesapeake Fish Lower

Blue Fish: Bluefish range in size from 1-25 pounds and can be found in the Chesapeake Bay from early April to January. Bluefish offer a great fight and with their sharp teeth these fish are some of the most fun fish to catch. Click here to inquire about a Chesapeake Bay Bluefish Fishing Charter.

Bay Chesapeake Fish Trout

Grey Trout: (Weakfish, Sea Trout) - These trout are available from late April to November in the Chesapeake Bay. The largest concentrations are around the structure of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. We will be jigging and live baiting for these fish that range in size from 1 -12 pounds. Bay Chesapeake Fish Spadefish

Spadefish: Pound for pound, these fish are the best pulling fish in the Chesapeake Bay. Spadefish, which are also great to eat, are caught at the Chesapeake Bay Light Tower, offshore wrecks and also at the world famous Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel from June to September. Bay Chesapeake Fish Mackeral Spanish

Spanish Mackeral: Spanish mackeral, with their silver sides and yellow spots, are probably the most colorful fish of the Chesapeake Bay. Also good to eat, these fish are caught by trolling at various locations throughout the lower bay, with larger ones caught near the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. Bay Chesapeake Fish Tautog

Tautog: (Blackfish) - Taug, as they are known, are great eatting and a good fight! Taug can be found in the Lower Chesapeake Bay from April to June and then from October to January. Bay Chesapeake Fish Sheepshead

Sheepshead: (The Poor Man's Lobster) - Sheepshead are another great eating fish. You can find these fish in the Lower Chesapeake Bay from June until October.
